My truck would do something similar. I had the EBP replaced twice and the VGT sensor once.

Yes, you are missing something. Don't you hear the turbo spooling up and then dropping off? It is doing that just sitting there at idle and it sh ouldn't be. Last I checked it is the turbo VANES not VALVES that create t hat whine. You gotta wonder why people respond if they are clueless. Tak e it to the dealer and have them check the VGT sensor and the EBP sensor. One if not both of those are bad causing your truck to do this.

Why is it that I was able to figure out that this truck was doing this at i dle and you weren't? I guess I looked beyond the chance to brand bash. I 'll have you know that my first choice in trucks was a Cummins. Until thi s year the Cummins didn't come in a 350/3500 with a real crewcab. Now it does, but not with an 8' truck bed. People buy what they need, we can't a lways get the package we want. Heck if we could, I'd have a Cummins with a 3000 series Allison in a Crewcab F550. Eyan, you must have come over f rom streetfire as your comments are as bad as the ricer vs. domestic fight ing that goes on over there. Please either post something constructive or funny, but there is ZERO need to attack brands and people.

im a powerstroke fan, we all have our favorites and are dislikes, ive had n o trouble with my 7.3 and its got 280,000 on it, however i really dont thi nk much of the new 6.0 ive never drove one. a few of my buddies have them and at around 200,000 they start having electrical problems, theirs are 03 s. thats when the 6.0 first came out..so maybe they have the bugs worked o ut. but we'll see, i like the old 7.3s and id wish you could have a choice to get a 7.3 or a 6.0 in ur truck when you order it, mines a 99 f-350,

i didnt read all the comments and you might have already herd this but m ine does almost the same thing, mine is equiped with the optional warm up valve that automaticly idles up the RPMs to around a grand and re-circula tes the exhaust to warm up the truck faster and when the valve closes, it makes that noise. i forgot what the actual name was but its just a thought ....

I noticed snow on the ground whitch means it is probably cold, on 7.3's there is a warm up valve after the turbo to create backpressure at idle to help warm the motor up faster whitch causes a loud hissing noise more noticeable with performance exhaust, on a 6.0 liter if im not mistaken they program the vanes in the turbo to open at idle when it is cold usually under 32 degrees to create backpressure instead of using a warm up valve, so this will cause the turbo to be very loud and spool up at idle.

That noice isnt nothing serious...the 6.0 has that EVRT crap...the motor is just trying to find the right amount of backpressure and heat for the exhaust to keep the motor and turbo warmed, its hard for it to do during the winter, excpecially when you add a bigger exhaust with no cat or muffler that lowers the factory backpressure, which is what the truck's computer is programmed to achieve, so it has to keep adjusting everything on/in the motor to meet this...some tuners will actually stop or lessen this

did you have the latest pcm flash? this sounds to me like the vgt turbo vanes cycling to prevent sticking and is normal. it was included with a latest pcm flash
